The term “complementary therapy” describes a wide range of therapies aimed at enhancing wellness and relaxation through mind/body techniques or touch therapy. The complementary therapies offered by our program are not curative treatments and are not an alternative to conventional medical practices. Rather, they complement the current care that the resident is receiving and are meant to be gentle and relaxing for the mind, body, and soul. Therapies are offered in Chapman House for those who are residing here at the end-of-life, and to their family members.
From having a massage treatment, to interacting with a therapy animal, we believe in supporting everyone wherever they are in their experience. Complementary therapies help individuals increase comfort, relieve pain, and improve quality of life.
If you are a registered provider who would like to volunteer your services to our residents and family, please contact Charlene Barrett cbarrett@greybrucehospice.com. We are currently looking for volunteers of massage therapy, reiki, acupuncture, animal therapists and more!
