“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL

EXPERIENCE IN HEAVEN’S

WAITING ROOM”

THANK YOU,
FROM APRIL

Thank you to all the staff at Grey Bruce Hospice Inc. from the cooks to the cleaners, volunteers, nurses, PSW’s, spiritual counsellors, Amy’s smiling face, and everyone else that made Dad’s last couple weeks comfortable and memorable in the best way possible, thank you!

That just doesn’t seem like enough, but there are no words that can truly express the gratitude we had for Dad’s care in his final time here on earth!

If you know my Dad’s sweet tooth and love of ice cream, you know he took full advantage!

It is not lost on me how fortunate we are to have this incredible resource in our backyard, thanks to the many generous donors. How can you not love the hearts of the community we live in?

Brown Family – Carswell got to celebrate his grandson’s 27th birthday at Chapman House. The family gathered in the family lounge for a pizza party. All of our rooms have double-wide doors so that the resident’s beds can be moved around the building, along with patio doors for when the weather is grand. Carswell stabalized and continues living in long term care today.

Palle had always been a dog lover, having a puppy visit made his day and smiles were ear to ear.

During Bills stay at Chapman House his good friend Dave Nixon came in often to play the guitar with him and sing. Bill loved to sing. One day staff and volunteers joined in and we had a good old fashion kitchen party. The joy and laughter was beautiful.

THANK YOU,
FROM KEN AND SHERI

Our 32-year-old daughter, Kristen, was diagnosed with incurable cancer on April 8th, 2024.  Our entire family was devastated.

On april 27th, Kristen was transferred from palliative care to Chapman House Hospice.

The environment at Chapman House was warm and caring. The staff made every member of our family feel more than welcome. Everyone at Chapman House expressed compassion and empathy and made every effort to ensure Kristen and our family were nurtured and cared for.

Their special ability to share kindness and positivity helped our family have the strength to support Kristen when we questioned our own ability to stay strong.

We felt hopeless, knowing there was nothing anyone could do, and it was difficult to watch Kristen’s condition deteriorate.

Kristen passed away on May 22nd. Our family feels blessed that Kristen had the opportunity to spend her last remaining days in an amazing facility that always strived to go above and beyond to ensure she has the best care. We can’t find the words that can express our sincere, heartfelt thanks to every staff member at Chapman House for their relentless desire to exude kindness and compassion for each person who enters their home.

We will forever be grateful.

Ken and Sheri

Celebrate life's precious moments.

Kristen and her niece are having a visit with a baby goat from our complementary therapies offered at Chapman House.

Volunteering

We rely on volunteers to donate thousands of heartfelt hours to take care of this hospice home, its residents, and their families. We have many areas where folks can volunteer including; Resident & Family Care, Reception, Gardening, Fundraising & Events, Kitchen and more!

Thank you so much to all our incredible volunteers! The work you do is pivotal to the care provided by Chapman House.

Bereavement

Our care doesn’t end when your loved one is no longer at hospice. We offer monthly bereavement support calls for a year after your loved one has passed, memorial services which take place four times a year, and a six-session grief group which runs various times throughout the year.

Our grief groups are open to anyone in Grey Bruce experiencing grief and loss.

Fundraising

Did you know that the care provided at Chapman House is available for free to families and residents thanks to the generosity of our communities. We are less than 50% funded by the Ontario Government which means $1.3 million needs to be raised each year through our generous donors.

We are endlessly grateful for the support we receive from individuals and organizations in Grey & Bruce.

How To Make A Referral

Anyone can request a hospice application. The applicant must have a life expectancy of 3 months or less from the time of admission. Individual care needs will be assessed in collaboration with Ontario Health At Home, Hospitals and Physicians to ensure a smooth transition from hospital or home for End-of-Life care at Chapman House.
