Grief & Bereavement

At Grey Bruce Hospice, we understand that grief is a deeply personal journey—one that doesn’t have a timeline or a roadmap. Our Grief & Bereavement Programs offer compassionate support to individuals and families coping with the loss of a loved one. Whether through one-on-one support, group sessions, or community gatherings, we provide a safe space to share, reflect, and heal.

Our programs are open to anyone in the community, regardless of whether their loved one received care at Chapman House. From structured grief groups to informal drop-in sessions, we are here to walk alongside you as you navigate this difficult time.

On this page, you’ll find a list of the programs we offer and find resources to register for.

You don’t have to grieve alone—we’re here to help.

Bereavement Support Calls

Volunteers trained in grief and bereavement, make confidential follow-up phone calls to the family members or significant others of those who died at Chapman House. With the consent of family members/significant others, the volunteer support caller will follow-up several times during the first year after the death, offering compassionate and attentive listening, and can provide information about available community resources.

Grief Group

Grieving is a normal process that affects everyone. This group provides a safe space for participants to explore and understand the grieving process in the days, weeks, and months following the loss of a loved one. The group follows an 8-week curriculum covering various aspects of grief (physical, emotional, social, spiritual, etc).
